A flat topped, coarse bristled brush made for the drybrushing technique.
Drybrushing works because the bristles are stiff enough to resist. You load almost no paint, wipe most of that off again, and then drag the brush across raised detail so the pigment catches on the high points and leaves the recesses dark. A soft brush cannot do it, because it folds instead of catching. This one is flat topped and coarse for exactly that reason, which makes it the right tool for weathering, quick highlights and textured effects on stone, cloth, fur or battle damage. The round handle lets you change grip freely, which matters more than it sounds when you are working around a model rather than straight at it. It carries the red handle of The Army Painter's Hobby range.
