Desert Sand is a fine, smooth texture suited to any kind of desert scene, such as North Africa. It is a high quality acrylic product that AK Interactive developed for textures on dioramas and vignettes, with realism as the goal.
It is well suited to making dunes: the paste can be shaped while it is still wet, then sanded once dry to refine the contours. It gives good results in thin or thick layers, and you can dilute it with water or an acrylic thinner to improve its flow over the surface. For a redder, coarser contrast, AK pairs it with Terrains Sandy Desert (AK8022). The maker lists it as non toxic.
