AK Interactive Chipping Lead (Hard) is a grease based chipping color lead pencil for modelers who want to add chipped paint to all kinds of vehicles.
Paint chips can be applied with a brush or sponge, but a pencil gives you precise control over each mark. This special chipping colored lead lets you draw small chips and scratches directly onto the model, where paint would wear through on edges, hatches, doors and steps.
It is a hard lead, which AK describes as most suitable for matte surfaces, drawing fine, sharp edged lines, scratches and inscriptions easily. Work on a matte finish, keep the tip sharp for the smallest chips, and vary the size and spacing of the marks so they look random rather than drawn.
