AK Interactive Chipping Effect is an odorless acrylic medium that goes between coats of paint so you can scratch and chip the top layer for realistic wear.
Start by painting the model with a dark color, or with whatever base color you want to show through the scratches. Apply a layer of Chipping Effect over the area you want to wear, by brush or airbrush. Then paint your acrylic top color over it: this becomes the outermost layer.
Once the top coat is dry to the touch, dab the area with water on a brush. The water activates the product between the two layers, so the top paint lifts in small, highly realistic chips, scratches and damage. Work the effect with the brush itself or with a sharp tool, and control how much of the base color you reveal.
