Six 3rd Generation acrylics for the Italian camouflage pattern uniforms worn by Waffen SS troops in the Second World War.

Italian pattern camouflage is built from three colours, a green, an ochre and a red brown, in large soft edged patches. That makes it deceptively hard to paint well, because if you lay the three flat the uniform looks like a printed sheet rather than cloth with folds in it. This set solves the problem by pairing each of the three with its own highlight, so you can shade and light every patch independently and the pattern keeps moving over the shape of the figure underneath. Gunship green and faded green handle the green; middle stone and light earth the ochre; hull red and deep brown the red brown. Paint the base pattern first, then bring the lights up patch by patch.
