The base khaki brown worn by British vehicles in the First World War, from AK Interactive's AFV range.

The AFV label marks out the colours AK has matched specifically for military vehicles rather than for general modelling. Those are awkward tones to get right, because they were mixed to official specifications rather than to please the eye, and a hobby paint that is merely close reads wrong the moment it sits beside a correctly matched one. This is the base coat for a British tank or lorry of 1914 to 1918, the tone the rest of the weathering is built on top of.

The 3rd Generation formula is the reason this range is worth the shelf space. It is non toxic, very highly pigmented, and formulated to go through an airbrush thinned without the clogging that older acrylics were notorious for, while still covering properly under a brush. The cap carries the colour so you can find it in a rack at a glance.
