Splittermuster Base, the base color for German splinter camouflage, from AK Interactive's Figures range.
Splittermuster, the German splinter pattern, breaks a garment up with sharp edged polygons of color and fine rain streaks over a lighter ground. It turns up on smocks, shelter quarters and helmet covers across the Second World War, and at figure scale it is a pattern that rewards method. Paint the whole garment in the base color first, then add the angular patches and the streaks on top. The base shows through everywhere, so it decides whether the finished pattern reads correctly. This bottle is that ground color.
The Figures label marks AK's compilation of very specific colors for painting historical figures, including WWI, WWII and modern uniforms. The 3rd Generation formula is non toxic, very highly pigmented, and made to airbrush cleanly when thinned rather than clogging, while covering smoothly under a brush. The cap shows the color.
