AK Interactive: 3G Russian Blue Base
Russian Blue Base, the first coat for the blue found on Russian uniforms, from AK Interactive's Figures range.
A Russian or Soviet figure is mostly khaki and brown, which is exactly why the blue details matter: breeches, caps and other uniform items in blue are often the one strong color on the whole figure, and the eye goes straight to them. A blue mixed from a bright primary looks like a toy next to the muted cloth around it. This is a base chosen for Russian subjects, to lay down first and then shade and highlight so it sits naturally alongside the rest of the uniform.
The Figures label marks AK's compilation of very specific colors for painting historical figures, including WWI, WWII and modern uniforms. The 3rd Generation formula is non toxic, very highly pigmented, and made to airbrush cleanly when thinned rather than clogging, while covering smoothly under a brush. The cap shows the color.
