AK Interactive: 3G No13 Desert Sand (FS30279)
$4.99
An AFV range acrylic matched to Federal Standard 30279, Desert Sand.
FS numbers come from Federal Standard 595, the US government colour system, and they are the reason a modeller can argue about desert sand at all: the shade is defined, so a paint either matches it or it does not. Desert Sand is the tone that replaced Olive Drab on American vehicles sent to arid theatres, and it is a difficult colour to eyeball because sun, dust and a camera all push it in different directions. Working from a matched bottle takes that argument off the table.
The AFV label marks the colours AK has matched to official references like this one. The 3rd Generation formula is non toxic, very highly pigmented, and made to spray through an airbrush thinned without the clogging older acrylics suffered, while covering cleanly by brush. The cap carries the colour for quick identification.
