AK Interactive: 3G Field Grey Base #2 (Grey Uniform)
Field Grey Base #2 (Grey Uniform), a base for German field gray uniforms, from AK Interactive's Figures range.
Field gray was never one color. Wartime German uniform cloth varied with the dye lot, the manufacturer and the year, running from green grays to much flatter grays, and wear and sun pulled it further apart. That is why AK offers more than one field gray base: a painter can match the specific uniform, or deliberately mix tones within a group of figures so they look like men issued clothing at different times. AK makes two: Field Grey Base #1 for the greener uniform cloth, and this #2 for the grayer.
The Figures label marks AK's compilation of very specific colors for painting historical figures, including WWI, WWII and modern uniforms. The 3rd Generation formula is non toxic, very highly pigmented, and made to airbrush cleanly when thinned rather than clogging, while covering smoothly under a brush. The cap shows the color.
