AK Interactive: Fuel Stains
AK Interactive Fuel Stains, an enamel effect made specifically for spilled fuel on modern and classic vehicles.
Spilled fuel is one of the details that makes a vehicle model look used: the damp, glossy tide marks around filler caps and jerry can racks, where fuel has run down the hull and dried at the edges. It is not the same thing as oil or grease, and AK is clear that this product is for fuel effects only. It reproduces the particular sheen and intensity of spilled fuel, which is why it reads correctly where a general grime wash would not.
Fuel Stains is an enamel. It can be blended with the rest of AK's enamel colors, thinned with AK White Spirit to vary how strong the stain looks, and applied by brush or airbrush. Any excess can be worked back and removed easily with a clean brush dampened in White Spirit, so the stain can be shaped until it looks right. AK publishes a technical sheet on using it.
